Wouldn't it be nice to get home after a long day just to find your groceries were waiting
for you on the doorstep? Shopping for groceries online might seem like it would be
impossible, but there are actually quite a few companies out there that let you do just
that. They all work a little differently from each other and you have to find out if they
service your area or not.
Homegrocer
- Personal shoppers pick out your food, their drivers deliver it to
your home. Check to see if they offer the service in your area.
Telegrocer
- A Canadian company that also operates in the U.S. Received orders
are sent to the fulfillment supermarket where they are shopped for and
assembled by a team of personal shoppers. Orders are processed within
4 hours of placement.
Foodfare
- Another Canadian company that also operates in the U.S. They also
have some great recipes even if they don't deliver in your area.
NetGrocer - They've recently
expanded from just groceries and are now also selling computers, health & beauty,
books, music and much else.
|
| PeaPod - Groceries delivered to your
door, fresh produce, meat, bakery items and more. Find out if they offer the service in
your area. |
| Groceries Online - Online
shopping for supermarkets and drug stores. Purchase your products online, and pick them up
or have them delivered. |
| Streamline - These guys take this
very seriously, they have their "start team" come to your house to set up your
personal shopping list and then they show you how to place your orders online, they also
set up a box in your garage (60"x30"x62" - both shelves and a refrigerator)
and install a keypad access system so you don't have to be home when they deliver the
food. But that's not all, how about renting movies, doing your dry-cleaning, restaurant
food and more. Limited to the Massachusetts area. |
| GroceryShopping - If your
local food store doesn't offer online shopping, you might want to mention this site to the
store manager. They will actually help stores sell online. Find out if your local store
does offer the service via their Grocery Store Directory. |
| Planet Organics - Organic
food in the San Francisco Bay Area, recipes and more. Delivered to your home or office.
They claim you will save money, time and get the best organic produce anywhere. |
| eGrocer - A
service allowing at-home shopping from local grocery stores. Currently operating in the
San Francisco Bay Area, soon to be expanded in the Northwest. They publish the store's
entire list of prodicts along with their current prices and save the you time by both
filling your order to your specifications and having it ready for you to retrieve at a
time selected by you. They found that picking up the order is superior to the delivery
service model, because it does not require the customer to be at home at a precise time,
it allows for last minute product selection, and does not subject the customer to the
delivery service's idea of a satisfactory substitute in the event that a particular item
is out of stock. |
