Fathering

We decided to add a page for Fathers in honor of Father's Day. Here you will find links to magazines online, to articles, resources, single-dad, step-dad, divorced-dad resources and much more.

new040.gif (307 bytes)Fathering Magazine - Here you will find articles on why men father, discipline, tips for singe dads, studys of children in fatherless homes, stay at home dads and much more. You will also find articles on male health issues, news relating to parenting and fatherhood, fathering poetry, the importance of fathers etc.

new040.gif (307 bytes)Single&Custodial Father's Network - The Single and Custodial Fathers Network (SCFN) is a member supported organization, dedicated to helping fathers to meet the challenge of being custodial parents. SCFN seeks to provide informational and supportive resources to custodial fathers and their families. You can sign up for their newsletter where the subjects include, but are not restricted to, relationships, schooling, scheduling, cooking, the Internet etc. They are also developing listings of legislative and legal resources that are supportive of the Single and Custodial Father. The site sponsors a mailing list for both custodial and non-custodial fathers.

new040.gif (307 bytes)Fathers' Forum Online - This site was developed from the Fathers' Forum programs in Berkeley, California. You can find a library of articles focused on fatherhood, becoming a father etc. You can find a list of links to related sites, articles on the first 12 months of fatherhood that offer you an overview of some of the changes you may be experiencing as a new father. Included are suggestions by other new fathers on how to make the most out of this most important first year of fatherhood.

new040.gif (307 bytes)Dad to Dad - was started in 1995 by Curtis Cooper in Atlanta, GA. The group began as a way for full-time dads to get together with other full-time dads. At weekly playgroups, the kids get to enjoy playtime together and dads get to talk. In addition, they also schedule field trips, family weekends, and (most importantly) dads' night out dinners. Overall, it's a great way to meet other guys who stay home with their kids, get out of the house and socialize, and not feel like "Mr. Mom." To find out more about where to find a chapter or how to start one if there's not one in your area, visit the link above.
